Re: U.S. Can Keep Its Confirmation System, letter to the editor, Sept. 20.


Contrary to what Tony Kavanagh believes, the present process of choosing judges in this country is undemocratic and elitist. The infighting, ego-led political campaigning behind closed doors that occurs makes a federal or provincial campaign mild in comparison. I have some experience in all three.
The smugness of implying that Canadian jurists hold a higher standing internationally is offensive to any thinking Canadian, besides being plain wrong.
